The Series-1 Jaguar E-Type (XKE): 2009 JCNA National Champion

The current 2009 JCNA National Champion is now  no longer available for purchase.

Welcome to my blog about my 1966 Series-1 E-Type, #1E1.445. This is a 4.2 litre, right-hand drive, open two-seater (roadster). I have owned this beauty for 37 years, having found it in a field when I was 20 years old.

Throughout this span of time, I never wavered from my dream of finishing the restoration of this car, among one of the most beautiful automotive designs of all time. There is not a single bolt, assembly, or part that hasn’t been removed, restored, and re-installed. Let me say here that I did most of the work myself with exception to critical areas such as interior, top, paint, and engine. The car currently has about 63,500 miles on it.

In 2002, this E-Type was awarded National Champion by Jaguar Clubs of North America (JCNA)….and as of October 25th, 2009, it has again taken the title of National Champion for 2009-2010.

After 37 years of ownership, I have decided to find its next caretaker.

Clearly, this car is destined for a discriminating collector who wants nothing  but the best. This car has NEVER been offered on EBay.

Below is the verifiable list of shows and awards since 2001:

Last but not least, I am fully aware of the current state of the economy and the somewhat downward trend on some classic cars, however, rare thoroughbred British sports cars like the Jaguar Series-1 E-Type, Austin-Healey 3000 series, and almost any Aston-Martin are bucking this trend and continue to sell at record numbers. I am also fully aware of the issue of this being a right-hand drive car, and that it may well be destined for ultimate sale in the UK. From my perspective however, a collectible classic British sports car SHOULD be a right-hand drive…it doesn’t get any more “correct” than that! Classic cars are shipped to the UK every week for little money.

This beautiful thoroughbred now resides in the UK where it belongs.
